Nuxeo Partner Efficeon do Brasil Talks About Its SmartECM Solution

without comments

Efficeon do BrasilIf you want to really understand how the Nuxeo Platform supports innovative content management applications, just look to its partners. Klyff Harlley, co-founder of Efficeon do Brasil, is one such partner who has built plenty of solutions on top of the Nuxeo Platform over the last four years. We caught up with him to discuss his latest project for the Brazilian Congress.

Before we talk about the project itself, here’s a little background on Efficeon’s team. They started working with the Nuxeo Platform in 2009 when they were employees of the CommerzBank (a German Bank) in Berlin. The bank was using an old version of Alfresco and when the time came to upgrade, the versions were so different that they decided to look around see what else was out there. Within a week of looking they found Nuxeo and started working on some small projects. Today, they have a …

FICO’s Tom Leuchtner Talks Case Management, Startups and Family

without comments

Tom Leuchtner is Sr Director, Product Management at FICO, an analytics company that offers analytics software and tools used to manage risk and fight fraud. FICO’s software, which is built on open source technologies and, in some cases, is cloud-based, is used by a variety of organizations across a range of industries.

Tom’s job is to drive new product and market development in the Fraud business segment. So how does someone who worked on collaborative technologies and then taught marketing in Paris, France, become involved in the fraud protection business? Well it’s an interesting story…

Tom’s background working with collaboration solutions such as Lotus Notes, CC:Mail, NetManage Groupware, Netscape Navigator and others may have helped prepare him for what lay ahead. In the late 90’s, he was transferred overseas to Paris, France with Netscape, managing their Europe, Middle East and Africa marketing. Tom left Netscape after a couple years …

EasySOA & Nuxeo: Agile, Non-intrusive Governance for Service-oriented Information Systems

with 2 comments

Let me introduce you to EasySOA Registry, an open, agile and non-instrusive governance solution for service-oriented Information Systems. In broad strokes, it acts as IT’s control tower and health dashboard, thanks to features such as automated extraction of existing services and being adaptable to technologies and practices in place. At its heart, an open Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) model crosses all layers of an IT project (specifications, development and deployment) and allows you to put them back together. Most importantly, it puts actors back in the middle through a collaborative approach, provides them with a multiple point of view and emphasizes documentation.

Business-specific document management, preview and browsing User Interface? Tree versioning system? Generic and specific REST API? The newly released EasySOA Registry 2.0 IT service governance solution does all that with the Nuxeo Platform and more.

Here I’ll stray from document management for a moment. I promise you …

[meet the client] Christophe Capon, CIO at Vilogia

without comments

Christophe Capon

Christophe Capon is an open source maniac (his words). When he joined Vilogia seven years ago he mixed his open source knowledge with that of a couple of other geeks in the company, all of them knowing that it’s much easier to work with an open source solution. Why? “Because you know how it works inside and out: you know how to fix bugs, understand how it works internally, and that allows you to solve problems much more easily.” For Christophe, it’s simply a philosophy.

But Christophe is not a coder, he’s the CIO of one of the biggest real estate companies in France, with 85,000 housing units in five major areas, building almost 3000 houses a year.

At Vilogia, Christophe has implemented an Application Portfolio approach to developing applications. The Nuxeo Platform, which the company started using in 2009, is used as the underlying content repository for Vilogia’s 28,000 …

Nuxeo & Jeppesen Case Study: An iPad For Every Pilot Beats a 20lb Flight Bag Any Day

without comments

Imagine this, you are a pilot getting ready for a flight from New York to San Francisco. As you prepare to board your plane, you pick up your flight bag which contains all the navigation charts, runway information and schedules you might need for your trip. That flight bag weighs in at around 20-30 lbs, the size of a 2-3 year child. Once on the plane, you pick through the flight bag, grabbing the pages you need and pinning them to clipboards so you can easy read them. Sounds a bit archaic in this day and age, doesn’t it?

Those flight bags are prepared from information that is managed by Jeppesen, a Boeing subsidiary involved in infrastructure to transmit navigation data to end devices for airlines and their pilots. Jeppesen has thousands of employees in each airport around the world, updating these flight bags. The flight bags must be …
