The ECM world is structured around 2 main classes of content: Assets on one side and Transactional Documents on the other. Traditionally both classes are handle separately, in slightly different ways: different products, targets and features.
The alliance of high-performance commodity hardware, open source software and web technologies changes the game: it's now possible to leverage the experience in DAM and DM to create powerful and innovative solutions, unifying both approaches (asset-oriented & flow-oriented) and mixing them with web-inspired features (social networking, mashup, REST-based architectures, etc.)

Nuxeo announces its highest quarter since its inception in 2000

For the first quarter 2009, the open source software firm establishes a record level of income

Paris, London, Boston, May 19th, 2009 - Nuxeo, vendor of Nuxeo Galaxy, the open source ECM suite , has registered a record number of orders for the first quarter of 2009 with an increase of over 100% compared to the same quarter last year.

This significant growth has been boosted by the development of sales in Europe and in the US; US operations began in January 2009.

The quarter’s results are as much due to the renewal of existing client’s contracts as to the signing up of new ones.

• Among the new customers we can name : Cengage and eConstruction in the  United States, L'Armée de l'Air (Air Force) and Serimax in France, DiviBib in Germany and Belgacom in Belgium

• Many existing customers continue demonstrate confidence in Nuxeo. Among these are l'AFP (French Press Agency), Le Ministère de la Défense (Ministry of Defense), la CNAV (retirement administration), Le Centre des Monuments Nationaux (National Monuments Centre) in France, The Press Association in the UK, Hustler Turf in the United States.

Nuxeo and Day Software join forces on Apache Chemistry project to advance the open CMIS standard

Apache Chemistry to provide common open source reference implementation of proposed CMIS standard for industry-leading ECM vendors

Paris, France and Basel, Switzerland – 6 May 2009 - Content management vendors Day Software and Nuxeo have joined forces on the Apache Software Foundation’s (ASF) Chemistry incubator project, which aims to produce a generic, open source reference implementation of the CMIS standard.  CMIS is designed to benefit the growing number companies looking for a standards-based API to access documents stored in a wide-variety of ECM repositories.  Both companies will be discussing their joint work on Apache Chemistry in an upcoming webinar on May 26, 2009.  Registration for the webinar is now open on Day’s website at http://www.day.com/webinar052609.

Day Software and Nuxeo, whose product offerings both leverage the Apache Jackrabbit open source core, see continued collaboration within the ASF on Apache Chemistry as a natural extension of their continuing work on driving content management standards.  Through Apache Chemistry, Day and Nuxeo look to build broad community participation in driving a common implementation of CMIS that can support any enterprise content repository, including any repository compliant with the JSR-170 standard.  With the same open, collaborative model as OASIS specification process, Apache Chemistry promises to accelerate the development, ratification, and adoption of the CMIS standard, a goal that Nuxeo and Day both see as being important to continued growth of the ECM and WCM industry.

Release of Nuxeo 5.2 M4, last milestone towards Nuxeo 5.2

Nuxeo 5.2 M4 has just been released.

This release the last milestone towards Nuxeo 5.2 which is still in active development, and due to be released at the end of February.

There are over 30 new features in this release, both for the development and functional sides.

Amongst the most spectacular news, I'd pointout :
