Extensive Set of Customization Features
For Nuxeo Enterprise Content Management Applications
Nuxeo Studio offers an online access to a powerful and vast set of tools for extending and customizing applications built with the Nuxeo platform. The feature set ranges from a simple branding makeover with custom colors, logos, and fonts, to full configuration of content views, to the automation of complex content-centric business rules. What makes Nuxeo Studio unique is the online customization as a service environment that houses it, as part of the Nuxeo Connect offering. Delivered as a complete environment on the cloud, with no installation and upgrade hassles, and guaranteed version compatibility, this unique environment allows users to focus on the design and development of content applications. Feature Highlights
Designed to reduce the time and complexity of proof-of-concept and application development for content management projects, Nuxeo Studio offers an extensive feature set, including:
- Application Branding. Adapt application logos, colors, and other branding scheme elements to the organization's context.
- Content View Configuration. Content views are a representation of a repository query result set. The high level of configurability available enables the easy development of business data views that are well adapted to the organizational context. This feature gives full control of the content view - from the definition of a dynamic query, to the column display, to the sort criteria. Content view definitions can be applied in many places, such as search results, virtual navigation, and specific content types.
- Search Form Design. Create an advanced search form with custom-defined search fields and layout.
- User Actions. Define content-based actions (e.g. print, copy, import, etc.) with specified user permissions, content properties, and event triggers. Custom actions are typically used in automation chains, or attached to UI features, such as a clickable button.
- Content Automation. A content automation chain is an ordered set of operations to process a document or a group of documents. Unitary operations implement a particular documentary function, such as "move a document", "update a property", "change the lifecycle state", "transform to PDF", "send as email", etc.
- Content Templates. Configure the structure of the content repository. The standard out-of-the-box hierarchy can be overridden and permissions can be pre-defined.
- Schemas. Configure a set of property definitions for a document type. By default, Nuxeo applications use the Dublin Core schema for most document types.
- Document Types. Define custom content templates, with property definitions, lifecycles, form structures, containment rules, and tab views.
- Event Handlers. Define a unitary event listener that specifies conditions that trigger an event (e.g. document created, document published, etc), which will be used as part of a content operation chain.
- Lifecycles. Define content lifecycle states and transitions with a graphical tool.
- Permissions. Assign new permissions and specify the document types for which users can modify permissions.
- Virtual Navigation. A hierarchical navigation tree representing custom vocabulary values. Repository content can be filtered by these vocabulary values.
- Vocabulary Management. Create or import terminology lists for a controlled set of choices that can be used, for example, in a drop-down list used to assign document metadata.
- Notifications. Email templates can be defined, with attachments and optional HTML, and included in content automation chains. This means that a specific type of email notification, with specified content, can be triggered for defined types of events.
- Content transformation. Transformation capabilities enable Nuxeo Studio users to quickly and easily set up PDF, XML, CSV, and HTML formats, or any textual format transformation of business content for external publishing and exporting.
- Template library: import and modify sample templates, such as workflows and document types, rather than reinventing the wheel. A renaming feature ensures that a component name change in a template will be automatically updated everywhere that component is used. Validity of the modified component is ensured with the project validation feature.
- Project validation: a consistency check system verifies that all the configured features reference existing elements, so that errors can be handled before deployment.
With a particular focus on ease of use and ease of learning, Nuxeo Studio offers a feature set that is geared towards accelerating time to delivery of content management applications.
